Eve Update: Its started picking up or was it the low tide but a few thigh mayyybe waist sets came in but it looked encouraging. Tomorrow will be fun. Where should you go? We’ll be updating the indepth report soon for some local knowledge. Check the indepth surf forecast to know where to surf.
2pm Monday Afternoon: Building to maybe a calf high tide set from a brown ankle high set this morning. That water is brown danggit! Who is going to go out? What will happen to you? Will you get sick? Even with all this sad gross red tide brown water it sounds lame but still felt real good to feel the sand between the toes. Will it build later? Will anyone go out? You know all the dudes will be checking north jetty till dark and will be surrounding the one brave soul as he exits the water like John John is surrounded at the pipe masters when he gets outta the water, asking him,”Hows the red tide?? Do your eyes burn?? Were you coughing?? Did you vomit?? Are you dying??” Will you be the one handing him a well deserved and well earned beer? Well you should be. And bring some beer of your own to share cheapskate. See ya there. Low tide around 7pm so thats a plus
9am Monday morning: There is an eerie calm before the storm feeling down here at the jetty today. No red tide smell but the water does look brown far as the eye can see. Windy tropic weather. There is a low low confidence chance of a rideable wave today at the most North facing beaches. It should pick up tomorrow and Wednesday though. Get ready. Afternoon update later. In the afternoon.
Weekly Surf Report: Just when you thought it would never get better we get something like this, and the Gulf totally redeems itself! Well sort of. Very high confidence in Tropical Storm 14 coming through the Yucatan channel and juicing up to the Panhandle. May strengthen to a hurricane just before it hits. Went offshore fishing on Friday just hoping that there were some out there. We did catch fish non stop about 12 miles out, sweet blue water. Still brown water about for about 6-8 miles out. The good news: We will finally get some waves. The bad news: The water quality for the surf we get will not be the greatest. You are taking a chance of swimming in red tide filled, possible bacteria filled brown brown water. We’ll be checking it early every day this week. Stay tuned. Check the indepth surf forecast to know where to surf.
Water temp pushing 85. Check the red tide at Red Tide Status. Isolated showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 89. East wind 8 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
