Real cool guys. How about spending tax money on making sure this doesn’t happen instead of “beach re-nourishment”.

A sewage spill occurred at 10:20 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 26 at 701 W. Venice Ave. in the city of Venice. According to Joe Szejk, Head Operator at the city’s Eastside Water Reclamation Facility, a sanitary lateral became blocked with roots, causing a small discharge from the clean out to the surrounding grassy area. A vac truck was dispatched and the area was treated with lime. The amount of discharge is estimated at less than 100 gallons. The wastewater did not enter any storm drains.

The area was thoroughly disinfected. The blockage was cleared by 1:20 p.m. Saturday, and the state DEP was notified.
